For the 17th year in a row, the Elmhurst Jaycees will sponsor their annual Elmfest Carnival on Thursday through Sunday, June 12-15, running in a single section along First Street between York Street and Maple Avenue.
Spectacular Midways returns to Elmfest for the 15th year in a row with carnival rides that include many old favorites, plus some new attractions.
Carnival hours are 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, 12 noon to 10 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
New this year is a Special Kids Day carnival event on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. allowing children with special needs to ride for free, courtesy of the Chamber, Jaycees, Spectacular Midways and Special Kids Day Committee.
The Jaycees annually designate their share of the carnival proceeds in financial support of community programs and events sponsored by numerous civic, service and social groups, charitable organizations and not-for-profit agencies—including the District 205 Foundation for Educational Excellence, Elmhurst YMCA, Ray Graham Association for People with Disabilities and American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life in Elmhurst.
Passes and tickets are available for purchase. A $45.00 four-day mega pass is available at the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry (113 Adell Place), Mehta Motors (463 Spring Road) or the Jaycees (P.O. Box 235) until June 9, and $50.00 after that date and during the festival at the Jaycees’ Elmfest tent. A $20.00 one-day ride pass can be purchased for use on either Thursday from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. or Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Chartered as the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Elmhurst Jaycees is a leadership training organization of young adults between the ages of 21 and 40 who engage in volunteer charitable activities benefiting the Elmhurst community.
An organizational partner of the Elmhurst Chamber, the Jaycees also sponsor Elmhurst’s Fourth of July Parade and annually recognize an Elmhurst resident’s volunteerism at their Distinguished Service Award Banquet.
